Play Therapy Services for Children
Hermanus & the Overberg
Sulene Swanepoel provides child-centred Gestalt play therapy for children across the Overberg. Every child is unique — and so is every therapeutic journey. Sulene’s approach is always tailored to the individual child’s needs, personality, and pace.
The following areas are among the most common reasons families seek play therapy support. Click on each to learn more, or contact Sulene to discuss your child’s specific situation.
Anxiety & Worry
For children who feel overwhelmed by fear, worry, or everyday stress. Play therapy helps children understand their anxiety and develop their own tools to manage it.
Trauma & Loss
For children who have experienced bereavement, trauma, or a distressing life event. Play therapy provides a safe way to process pain that is too big for words.
Behavioural Challenges
For children with angry outbursts, defiance, or difficult behaviour. Challenging behaviour is often a child’s way of communicating — play therapy helps find the words underneath.
Family Transitions
For children navigating divorce, separation, relocation, or new family structures. Play therapy helps children adjust and maintain a sense of safety and identity.
School Difficulties
For children who are struggling emotionally, socially, or academically at school. Sulene’s background in education means she understands the school environment deeply.
Building Confidence & Resilience
For children with angry outbursts, defiance, or difficult behaviour. Challenging behaviour is often a child’s way of communicating — play therapy helps find the words underneath.
