Child Play Therapy in Hermanus & the Overberg
Helping children heal through the language of play — warm, expert support in the heart of the Overberg.
Is Your Child Struggling?
Is your child struggling with anxiety, big emotions, angry outbursts, or changes at home or school? You’re not alone — and there is gentle, effective support available close to home.
Sulene Swanepoel is a dedicated child play therapist based in Hermanus, Western Cape. She serves families across the Overberg — including Stanford, Gansbaai, Kleinmond, Pringle Bay, and Caledon — and specialises in Gestalt play therapy, a proven, child-centred approach that uses the natural language of play to help children express and heal.
Children don’t always have the words for what they’re feeling. Play therapy gives them a safe, nurturing space to communicate, process, and grow — at their own pace, in their own way.

How Play Therapy Works — 3 Simple Steps
Step 1
Parent Consultation
We start with a 60-minute parent consultation so Sulene can learn about your child’s history, your concerns, and your family’s goals. Your child is not present at this stage — this is your space to talk openly.
Step 2
Play Therapy Sessions
Your child meets with Sulene in a warm, fully equipped play therapy room. Sessions are approximately 40 minutes, held weekly, and proceed at a pace that suits your child. Most children begin to open up naturally within the first few sessions.
Step 3
Ongoing Parent Feedback
Sulene believes that supporting the child means supporting the whole family. You receive regular progress feedback sessions, open communication throughout, and practical guidance on how to support your child at home.
